Local Walks
The Business Centre is built on the site of Westthorpe colliery. The Westthorpe Hills area is now manged by the Three Valleys Project. Restoration and tree planting has complimented what nature successfully began, with at least 38 species of breeding birds to be found on this woodland and scrubsite. A ten minute 'Doorstep Walk' provides a lovely short escape, through replanted woodlands, with spectacular views of the countryside and even landmark remnants of the colliery. This walk is a firm favourite of several of our tenants but for a longer walk try the route that passes the Chappelwheel Dam.
The Chappelwheel Dam Walk will take approximately forty minutes. You can begin the walk from the business centre and it will take you along country lanes, over a disused railway, through woodland and past Chappelwheel Dam.
Nearby is also the Trans Penine Trail and the Killamarsh Greenway.
Killamarsh Sports Centre
For indoor and outdoor sports Killamarsh Sports Centre is only a few minutes drive from the business centre. This is a state of the art sports centre and includes:
- 2 Squash courts with viewing gallery
- Fitness studio
- Purpose built long mat bowling area
- 26 Station health and fitness suite
- Fitness classes and coached activities
- 2 Vertical tanning units
- Sauna suite
- Treatment/fitness assessment room
- Indoor 5 court multipurpose sports hall including its own spectator viewing gallery which allows badminton, basketball, netball, gymnastics, football, cricket, table tennis, vollyball and many other activities.
- Outdoor 5 and 7-a-side astro turf pitch and junior size grass pitch.
Also available are junior fitness and sports activities and childrens parties in the Childzone.
